With the wide array of new products available in the market every day to choose from to color and style your hair, it is no surprise that many of us are suffering from damaged hair. Many of us have habits in our daily routine that might be ruining our hair. There are a wide range of treatments that are being done in salons and parlors that are affecting our hair and will continue to do so in the long run such as coloring, highlights and low lights, perm, hair straightening, rebounding, bleaching and braiding. The way we treat our hair influences how healthy or unhealthy they look.

The damage in our hair can be identified through hair loss, breakage, dullness, spilt ends, unmanageability and dry or frizzy hair. Within a short span of time, temporary changes can lead to permanent damage if you are used to blow-drying or ironing your hair on a regular basis. Hair come in various different forms in terms of color, structure, length, texture and style but once in a while, every woman goes through some kind of hair problem. We must learn to identify and eliminate those tools or treatments that cause such damage.

Excessive Use Of Heating Tools

Styling your hair excessively through blow drying and straightening on a regular basis can cause damage to your hair. Like our skin, our hair also needs moisture and oiling to keep the hair healthy. Lack of proper hair care can lead to severe dryness and spilt ends. Dryness is also caused if we use a harsh shampoo, take poor nutrition or strong medications, washing it too often and exposing them to the sun.

Try To Avoid Washing Your Hair Daily

Wash your hair less and try investing in a good dry shampoo. Washing your hair everyday can lead to more breakage, when our hair become wet they become elastic hence they are easier to break. If you wish to wash your hair daily, then try to use a mild shampoo or a sulphate free one that does not contain any chemicals.

Do Not Brush Wet Hair

As discussed earlier, wet hair is more prone to being damaged than dry hair. Hence, try to be gentler while brushing them, use your fingers or a comb. Wet hair is more elastic than dry hair thus brushing them excessively can cause them to break.

Health Problem Or Poor Diet

If you are on medication or suffering through some kind of illness, this can also have an effect on your hair. Another indicator is your diet, the food you choose to eat also influences the type of hair you have. For example, pregnant women have excellent hair which is due to the role of estrogens. On the other hand, if a person is suffering from cancer, they will have severe hair fall as chemotherapy introduces toxins which can hurdle the growth of new hair.

Thus, it is nearly impossible to prevent your hair from any kind of hair damage but try to implement these factors so you could enjoy healthier looking hair without having to give up on your favorite hairstyles.
